Bangkok – this huge metropolis at the heart of Thailand is one of our favourite cities in the world. I love the heat, the energy and the vibrancy. I am not sure anywhere makes me feel more alive than the streets of this great city.
However, if there is one thing that can make a stay here even better, it’s a great hotel. One where you can relax in the calm, cool air between sightseeing destinations, particularly when travelling with kids. Thankfully, we have found a great one! The Sukosol Bangkok.
Located not far from the centre at Siam Square, The Sukosol is conveniently located surrounded by shops and restaurants and only a couple of minutes walk from the sky train station, Phaya Thai. It is very easy to go everywhere from here.

The Sukosol Bangkok Review
The Sukosol is a 5 star hotel and so offers all the facilities you would expect from a luxury city hotel. There is a big pool, gym, day spa and multiple eating outlets and shops.
Where I felt that The Sukosol distinguishes itself from other hotels was in the fabulous presentation of its lobby area, shops and restaurants and in its Mini VIP program for children.
The ground floor has many eating areas and shops. All are beautifully presented. I felt more like I was in a upper class shopping mall rather than in a hotel. I also loved that the walkways were lined with art and historic artifacts in glass cabinets which made everything feel more open as well as adding beauty and class.
However, what impressed me more was the Mini VIP program for kids. At check in, the kids were given toy elephants which they just loved. It’s such a simple thing but it put us all in a good mood after a long day. The kids exclaimed that this was the best hotel ever!
In the room, I was also impressed by special kids’ toiletries, especially the kids’ toothpaste and toothbrush. Again, it made us all feel very welcome. There was also a DVD player and we could access kid friendly DVDs. You can read more about the Mini VIP program here.
Every staff member we dealt with also made us all feel very welcome.
The breakfast every morning was a great mix of Asian and western styles. I particularly loved the pastries which were some of the best I have tasted everywhere. We had room service one (lazy) night which was also good.
Our room
One of the other big plus points of The Sukosol Bangkok for families are the great family rooms. We stayed in a family room which had two queen size beds and was very spacious. There was plenty of room for the four of us.
There was also a great desk area, couch, plenty of cupboard space, free decent wifi, cable TV, DVD player, minibar, dressing gowns and one of the biggest bath tubs I have seen. Everything was comfortable and high quality. In addition to all the kids toiletries I have mentioned before, there was plenty of adult toiletries, bottled water and stationery.
On arrival there was also a super cute towel animal to greet us and a fruit bowl which was great for snacks over our stay.
There are also connecting rooms, so this would be a great choice for bigger families.
The kids?
The kids were very happy at this hotel. Thanks to the elephant on arrival, they walked in thinking it was the best hotel ever and loved staying here.
The large room made it extra easy for them to run around and play without feeling cooped up when we were in the room. They enjoyed the pool, loved the breakfasts and loved having their own special toothbrush and toothpaste.
Our verdict
We loved staying at The Sukosol. It made everything nice and easy and enhanced our Bangkok stay. We always felt relaxed and calm whenever we were in the hotel.
The location is a big plus. It was easy to get everywhere from here. The sky train stop made it very easy to get places and the hotel staff were great at finding us a taxi when we needed this. It is also just a short walk from a great strip of shops, cheap massage parlours, tailors, restaurants etc on Rang Nam Alley. This has always been our favourite area to stay in Bangkok.
We also especially enjoyed playing in the pool and having a sundowner while relaxing in the water.
The other thing I loved about this hotel was the friendly staff. Everyone we dealt with was helpful and welcoming even when our kids were being a bit loud and behaving like preschoolers. I am already missing the breakfast pastries. After 5 months in Asia, I have missed delicious pastries.
Some friends from home also stayed at this hotel at the same time which made for a fantastic stay. The downstairs lobby area was a great place to meet and catch up, and they also had a positive experience at this hotel.
All in all, we had a fantastic stay at The Sukosol Bangkok and we highly recommend it for other families who want a fabulous value option where kids are very welcome in a prime location. I am sure we will be back.
