Welcome to our family travel blog. This site started as a place where I detailed my Big Trip in 2005/6 to keep friends and family informed, and I have not been able to stop travel blogging since.
Now that I am married with three children, this blog is also about family travel. My hope is that you will find our blog inspiring, useful and that it motivates you to get out there yourself whatever your family situation. It follows our experiences of travelling with kids – the good, the bad and the (hopefully not too) ugly! As well as lots of tips to help you have adventures too.
We hope to help you travel smarter, cheaper and better with your own kids! Subscribe so we can show you how:
In December 2014, we left Australia without a return date to see more of the world and grow an online business. We spent 13 months living and travelling in Asia and Europe. You can read more about it here – and check out our summary of how it all went after the end of 12 months here.
We returned to Australia in January 2016 for the start of school for our oldest daughter and to have another baby. There will still be plenty of travel in our future. You can read more about where we plan to go next here.
Don’t have kids? Don’t worry, I have many posts to help you plan and experience travel as well. Check out my Flashback Friday posts where I go into more detail about a travel experience I have had in the past from the disappointment of visiting the Egyptian pyramids to working in a Scottish pub.
Me – Sharon, obviously!
I am a total travel addict and have visited 83 official countries. I am determined to hit 100 by 40! I grew up in Hobart, but have been based in Melbourne since 2000. I used to work in IT then I was a high school teacher and now I work online. I took many big trips in my twenties. I am a big planner and love organising travel, talking about travel, writing about travel, really anything to do with travel at all.
Joshua
Josh also loves to travel and took a couple of big trips in his twenties. He has lived in Melbourne all his life and works as a computer programmer. He loves Australian rules football (especially the tigers – sigh), cricket and sport in general. He is addicted to reading online news and likes to run.
S, born May 2010
Our gorgeous ginger ninja loves to travel and all the attention her red hair receives around the world! She is a passionate little girl and has the temper to match the red hair 🙂 She is bilingual and speaks German and English. She loves KidZania, Disneyland, her dolls, all types of food and her brothers. She loves visiting the world’s top sites, playing in pools, kids clubs, drawing, writing and making things.
Z, born March 2012
Z loves hanging out with his family, all forms of transport, good food and visiting new places. He is determined to visit every country. He is a confident, spirited and determined little boy who loves to eat, play with cars and sometimes sleep. He is happiest when we are on a plane, train, bus, car or anything else that moves.
Baby J, born June 2016
The latest member of our travelling family has been born travelling – after being conceived in Europe and spending half his time in the womb travelling 😉 By one year old, he would have been to 8 countries. He’s super easy going and totally doted on by his big brother and sister.
We recently had an awesome time in Asia. Before that, we were travelling in our home country of Australia and we have also travelled around the USA, Dominican Republic and other Caribbean islands. If you want to check out detailed information on the destinations we have visited, start with our destination guides.
You might like to read about what inspires us to travel and why we want to travel with such young kids.
I also write about all the different ways you can work online and earn an income while you are travelling. You can check out my guide to working from home here.
