Although the planning aspect of travel can be exciting, it can also be stressful. When you arrive in a new city all you want to do is find attractions and eateries that appeal to you. Thanks to technology, this is now possible without paying for a human tour guide or reading endless reviews of places to decide which are best.
TourPal Travel Guide App is a tour guide app that can be downloaded onto your smartphone (both Android and iPhone) to become your personal tour guide. It makes discovering a new destination super simple and as it combines the advice of professional tour guides from all around the world, it’s the next best thing to having a personal guide.

So how does TourPal work? I’ll review the different elements of this app below.
Interface
When you download the app you first select the language you’ll be using for the app and tours. You’re then taken to the main screen. This screen shows you a lot of things – most importantly it shows you tours in your area and tours from popular destinations.
By clicking on a city, you can see attractions and restaurants marked on the map making it super easy to plan your trip.
GPS based maps with routes
For me the biggest advantage of this app are the maps. When you’re traveling, internet access can be difficult. This is why I’m such a fan of offline maps.
You can also download a city and view the content offline. This will include specific audio tours and routes relevant to that city. The GPS helps guide you and thankfully this doesn’t require an internet connection.
Audio guides
My favorite part of this app is the audio tours. The tours are pretty comprehensive and usually give a good amount of information on attractions importance and history.
From the map of the city, you can click on the attraction and listen to an audio recording for the site. You can hear a free 30 second snippet, or download the full tour to your device. Plus the information is actually quite informative.
I learned a lot about my own city using this feature.
Restaurants
Another great feature is seeing where to go to eat. We all know this can sometimes be a struggle when you’re a tourist as you want an authentic experience.
The app lists details of grocery stores, cafes, bakeries, bars and restaurants. You can read others reviews here as well. The app uses lots of reviews and local experience to filter the best experiences.
Customizing your tour
Another benefit this app has is to customize the experience for you. You can filter the experience you want.
If you feel active, you can find tours catered towards this. If you want a romantic night out or the best shopping experience, it works or this as well.
You can also set difficulty and length here too to truly cater your experience.
More features
You can other handy things with the apps inbuilt features such as look for hotels and book tickets for activities and attractions.
The app is also available in multiple languages and you can also connect it to Facebook.
Cons
Of course not all cities have such comprehensive guides, but most of the major cities do. More attractions & cities seem to be added regularly so its worth staying updated.
I’d also recommend purchasing the full version that gives access to all features and removes ads.
Verdict
TourPal Travel Guide App is a great app to use and see attractions easily. I love that you can see where you are without an internet connection. What it results in is loads of information on the destination you’re going including guides, restaurants and available in multiple languages.
I’d definitely recommend downloading it for your next trip.
